Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using the Laurelia app ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Gao Studios ("we," "us," or "our"). Apple Inc. is not a party to this agreement.

2. The service

Laurelia is an AI-powered photo director that helps you select, rank, and caption photos for social media. It is developed and operated by Gao Studios (Edgar Gaona), Seattle, Washington, USA. Contact: support@laurelia.app

3. Licence

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded device you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and the Apple App Store Terms of Service. This licence does not include the right to sublicense, sell, resell, transfer, assign, or otherwise commercially exploit the App.

4. Accounts

You must be 13 or older to create an account. By creating an account you confirm you meet this age requirement. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately at support@laurelia.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

5. Subscriptions and payments

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Paid plans (Creator at $6.99/month or $59.99/year; Brand at $24.99/month or $199.99/year) are billed through the Apple App Store. All prices are shown in USD and may vary by region.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. To cancel, go to: iPhone Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → Laurelia → Cancel Subscription.

We do not process payments directly and do not handle your payment card details. For refund requests, Apple's refund policies apply — visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Your content

You own all photos you upload. You grant Laurelia a limited, temporary licence to process those photos solely to provide the service (AI scoring, caption generation, Friend Vote sharing). We do not claim ownership of your photos and do not use them to train AI models. Photos are automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours of upload.

7. Prohibited uses

You may not use Laurelia to:
  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, obscene, or violates third-party rights
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse our API or infrastructure
  • Create multiple free accounts to circumvent usage limits
  • Use the Friend Vote system to spread spam, misinformation, or harass others
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

8. AI accuracy

Laurelia uses AI to score photos and generate captions. Results are suggestions only, not guarantees. We do not warrant that AI scores or captions will improve your social media performance. You are solely responsible for any content you post based on AI suggestions.

9. Maintenance and support

Gao Studios is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App. For support, contact support@laurelia.app.

10. Warranty disclaimer

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. GAO STUDIOS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN THE EVENT OF ANY FAILURE OF THE APP TO CONFORM TO ANY APPLICABLE WARRANTY, YOU MAY NOTIFY APPLE, AND APPLE WILL REFUND THE PURCHASE PRICE FOR THE APP TO YOU. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, APPLE WILL HAVE NO OTHER WARRANTY OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER WITH RESPECT TO THE APP.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gao Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Laurelia, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Gao Studios, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to applicable legal or regulatory requirements; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.

12. Intellectual property

If you believe the App infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us at legal@laurelia.app. Gao Studios, not Apple, is responsible for investigation and resolution of any intellectual property infringement claims.

13. Third-party beneficiary

Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.

14. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Where material changes affect paid features, we will provide at least 30 days' notice.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete Account. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately, and we will delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of King County, Washington, USA. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer rights you may have under the laws of your local jurisdiction.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the App after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
